Advantages:
They're very cheap to buy, very cheap to run, and can print on continuous multi-part paper in black or colour. This is invaluable if your primary output is going to be invoices and statements from an accounting program or spreadsheet.
Disadvantages:
They're very noisy, and the print quality is inferior to both the inkjet and laser printers.
